Notes: This is a double flange, three and a half rotation twist done in Agate Creek agate. It has two 2.5 mm countersunk holes, one at each end. All work on this experimental model has been hand done on my normal 6" diamond wheels, novas and polypad (using cerium oxide as polish). I am very happy that this "experiment" came out so well (in my humble opinion). However, I'd be happy if someone else loved owning it and perhaps set it as an interesting designed piece of jewellery.
My initial idea, when I created this, was to have a half round gold wire going through the "top" hole and twisting down the centre of one curved face and out the other hole...?
A lot of work getting this artwork collector stone cut anf polished.
Setting style (or not) is the buyer's perogative. Although, this piece is light in carat weight, I'm selling an artwork (in my humble opinion) and the price per carat is irrelevant to the quality of work and design (and amount of time getting it right). "Less is More" as the saying goes! Twists are one of my favorite albeit time consuming cutting styles,as I continue to experiment. As a Mathematics (and Science) graduate, I was always interested in and fascinated with geometry and topology.
With a "double flange' in my twist terminologh, there are visible two distinct sharp edges twisting down...However, in this piece, because of the continuous curve of the edge at each end, there is actually only one real edge (or girdle line) to this piece as it forms a continuous twisting edge going down and back again.
To celebratre the website opening, I'm offering, for a short time, a small discount on what I'd normally want for this piece.
