Notes: This is a lovely freeform agate that I cut for the open Division of our national gemshow competition some years ago and it achieved first place. I haven't offered many freeforms from my personal collection in the past but now I've decided to move some of them on and I'll be cutting more as time goes on.
This dramatic red and "dead' white agate is one of my favorite colour combinations and patterns in Agate Creek agate. Freeforms like this one done entirely on my 6" lapidary wheels, take very much EXTRA TIME and effort to perfect for competition ...this one scored in the very high 90's...I hope you like and appreciate this cutting style that I developed way back starting late 1995 in competition cutting for our national gemshow competition in freeform cutting, open division.
However, I was surprised to find two very fine feather flaws in the stone when returned ??? and this is very unusual for this type of very stable agate and also the fact that I didn't see it under fairly close competition scrutinity. however, it may have been the shallow angle of these internal flaws...
The flaws are only visible at certain angles off centre (hence my mistake in missing them during cutting?). They do not in any way compromise the strength or structure of the stone and it will set well and safely...However, I am always completely honest with customers [life is too short to compromise yourself with dishonesty]... so I always disclose any potential problems. I rarely offer stones that are not perfect except on occasions like this or if for logistics in cutting something exceptional, say a beautiful picture stone that can't be cut without some flaws.
And so, I'm offering a substantial discount on this one both for the opening of the website celebration (for a limited time) and because of the feather flaws. Whoever buys this will be very happy I feel?
