These are a four part hard copy set of 368 pages each, full of opal information, opal stories, opal photographs, historical facts/photos and detailed history, researched tirelessly by the author Len Cram, a renowned opal expert, opal researcher.and pioneer opal photographer. Miners took their special gem class opals for Len to photograph for them...Len had the photo rights...they had photographs of their gems plus complete privacy. Some of the opals were truely astounding. Each set was a limited edition of 1500 copies. Plus 100 leather bound special edition copies each of the four series. Ten (10) of each set of 100 were kept in family trust and 90 sold to invited friends and opal dealers who got to have the same series number. I have my own set of 4 leather bound books still brand new and a set of four of the normal hard copy "Journey With Colour" editions....both these sets I am willing to part with in a private sale situation. As well, a friend has asked me to sell separately her two hard copy editions of " A History of White Cliffs 1889 - 1999", and " A History Of Lightning Ridge Opal 1893 - 2003" These were hand signed by the author as are all my Len Cram books. The price (in $AU) of this "White Cliffs" edition is $450 and the price of the "Lightning Ridge" edition is $500. Both bought together will discount to AU$ 850 plus postage applicable. These two will be a private sale also. I have quite a few of Len's earlier smaller books and booklets all of which are collectables..These will be listed at a later date but, If interested before then please email via the email listed above and I'll see if I can help out. I knew Len Cram from roughly 1990 through to his passing several years ago and visited him each occasion I was down when I was doing camp sitting and part-time mining, at least twice a year. Being a science graduate and teacher specializing in Geology and Chemistry in particular, we had many many discussions on opal formation, opal cutting and opal history... and life in general. |
